Listen, I know that nobody needs an excuse to eat Nutella. You don't even have to put it on anything—it goes great with spoons. However, I am giving you an excuse to drink Nutella, which may not have crossed your mind yet. If we could only get Nutella-flavored oxygen into those weird oxygen bars, you could even breathe Nutella, but I may be getting a bit ahead of myself. Let's stick to the joy of being able to drink it for now...
Nutella Hot Chocolate (makes 2 servings).
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup Nutella
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
dash of sea salt
fresh whipped cream (optional)
1/4 cup Nutella
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
dash of sea salt
fresh whipped cream (optional)
Add your milk to a small pot and heat the milk over low-medium heat until warm (don't let the milk boil; just warm it slowly).
Once the milk has warmed, add your Nutella and stir regularly with a whisk until all the spread has dissolved. Add the cinnamon and salt, and stir until combined. Pour into mug and garnish with a dollop of whipped cream.
This hot chocolate is a little on the rich side, but I love the combination of the cinnamon with the chocolate hazelnut goodness of the Nutella. It just adds a touch of warmth, and the dash of salt really kicks all the flavors up a notch too. I am a big fan of hot drinks in front of the fireplace as the cold weather approaches, and I think this will be a big hit in our house this year. Now let's get working on that Nutella-flavored air—who's with me!?
